Nickel silver is a metal alloy of copper with nickel and often but not always zinc.  It is named for its silvery appearance, but contains no elemental silver unless plated.  Other common names for shims made of this alloy are German silver shims, paktong shims, new silver shims and alpaca shims. Boker’s provides nickel silver shims in a variety of shapes and sizes up to 12” x 12” (flat) with thicknesses from .005″ to .190″.  Common shims made from nickel silver include shim plates, alignment shims, bearing shims and shim spacers/washers.
