Fender Washers from Boker’s, Inc. Distribute the Load on Soft or Thin Materials

A fender washer, though similar in shape to a standard washer, differs in that the outside diameter is traditionally much larger in proportion to the center hole. With this design, a fender washer can be placed under the head of a bolt or nut to help distribute forces applied when tightening. Its oversized outside diameter also provides more bearing surface for the load of the fastener—distributing the load further on soft or thin materials. Fender washers are commonly used in automotive, sheet metal, plumbing and electrical applications.

PMA Business Conditions Report:
August 21, 2025

Metalforming manufacturers forecast a slight decrease in near-term economic conditions, according to the August 2025 Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) Business Conditions Report. Prepared monthly, PMA’s report provides an economic indicator for the next three months of manufacturing, sampling 93 metalforming companies in the United States and Canada.

PMA’s August report shows that 27% of manufacturers surveyed anticipate an increase in general economic activity in the next three months (the same percentage reported in July), 49% predict no change in activity (compared to 54% in July) and 24% expect a decrease in activity (up from 19% in July).
